Let’s face it you are more than a resume. Shouldn’t you have a medium to reflect who you are? If you are an artist you have a portfolio, a songwriter has their lyrics why shouldn’t job seekers be any different?
Fired Before Christmas is a podcast about job seekers and unemployment. We interview real-world people who are actively seeking employment today and those who can provide insights into the hiring process.
Our goal is to take people beyond a resume and humanize the hiring experience. To give a voice to an otherwise silent experience and provide you with a new medium to be heard.
About Your Host
On December 17th, 2018, my position was eliminated in a reorganization of the IT Department for the company I worked with. I found myself without a job one week before Christmas. To complicate matters, my family and I were also in the process of selling our home. Due to a series of unfortunate events, we did not have a new home to move into. So I found myself very close to being not only being jobless but homeless as well.
The next 3 months were a whirlwind of activity as I worked to get a job. I moved my family out of Georgia to Florida to live with her parents. I learned to navigate and traverse through the bureaucracy of unemployment. I discovered and applied for healthcare offerings for my two kids. Most of all, I hustled every day to submit resumes, talk to prospective companies, and get myself employed.
During my journey, I was fortunate enough to meet with a wide variety of people who always amazed me with their stories, struggles, and efforts to help me out. This is my opportunity to give back to those still fighting to land a job and make a living.
